Second Step: Preparing the required documents and papers

You need to have some papers ready, such as language test results, to prove that you meet the Express Entry requirements. It takes some time to extract some documents. So, you should start preparing it now.

You will need specific documents during the different stages of the Express Entry application process.

Your profile documents

You will not need to upload any documents to submit your profile, but you may need the information in these documents:

  • Passport or travel document
  • Language test results
  • The report of evaluating your educational certificates in two cases: the first is if you are submitting your application through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the second is if you want to obtain points for the educational degrees you obtained outside Canada

Provide photocopies of the original certificates

Criminal certificates must be scanned and color copies submitted. Certified originals or unauthorized copies will not be accepted, and your application will be rejected.

A letter requesting a criminal record certificate

Some countries specify an expiry date for a certificate of criminal record. If you have an expired certificate, please attach it, and the Canadian government will accept it in the following cases:

  • If it was issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row

You may be asked to provide a new certificate later.

Failure to obtain a criminal record certificate in a timely manner

When you are invited to apply for immigration, you will have 90 days to submit your application for permanent residence. If you do not obtain all of your criminal record certificates within this time limit, you will have two options:

The first option: decline the invitation to submit the application

Your profile will be included in the list of candidates again. Depending on your results, you may be invited again.

Option 2: Provide proof of your progress that you have requested a criminal record

In very rare cases , the Canadian government may accept both a letter of explanation and evidence that you did your best to obtain your Certificate of Criminal Status on time.

A Canadian government employee will review your application. If he is not satisfied that you have done your best, your application may be rejected for incompleteness.

Submit your fingerprints and photo

If you are between the ages of 14 and 79, you need to provide your fingerprints and photograph (Evidence Data) when applying for permanent residence, even if you have submitted your fingerprints and photograph in the past and they are still valid.

  • You must pay the fingerprinting fee when submitting your application , otherwise you will experience delays.
  • You must pay the fingerprinting fee as soon as you receive a letter requesting you to submit your fingerprint report.
  • You will have 30 days from the date of receipt of the letter to submit your fingerprint report.

Verify your information

Make a decision on your application

The Canadian government will make a decision on your application based on the following:

If your application is refused,
