Mandarin Chinese is the most spoken language in the world, with over 1.3 billion native speakers. This is followed by Spanish, with over 661 million speakers, and then English, with just over 655 million speakers.



Interestingly, English is not only the third most spoken language in the world, but it is also the most widely used language on the internet. In fact, English is used by more than 25% of all internet users!


So why are these three languages so widely spoken? Well, Mandarin Chinese is the official language of China, which has the world’s largest population. Spanish is the official language of Spain and 21 other countries. And English is the official language of many countries, including the United Kingdom, United States


The hardest languages to learn


Interestingly, the hardest language to learn is also the most widely spoken native language in the world. Mandarin Chinese is spoken by over a billion people in China and Taiwan, making it one of the most important languages to learn. 


However, as mentioned before, Mandarin is unanimously considered the most difficult language to master. This is due to its complex writing system and tonal nature. If you're up for a challenge, though, learning Mandarin can be an incredibly rewarding experience.



The easiest languages to learn



There are many languages that are easy to learn for English speakers. Some of the easiest languages to learn include Dutch, Norwegian, and Afrikaans. These languages only require about 600 hours of study. The hardest languages to learn for English speakers include Spanish and French. These two languages can take up to 2200 hours of study.
