Dubai Maritime City Authority prepares for the winter tourist season

 The Dubai Maritime City Authority at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation has confirmed its continued efforts in implementing a number of initiatives to facilitate procedures and operations for local yachts and marinas, with the aim of enhancing Dubai's position as a center for marine entertainment.

Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Dubai Maritime City Authority, said that the authority is keen to adopt ambitious visions that contribute to raising Dubai's rating among the world's leading marine destinations by providing an integrated set of services, legislation and regulations.



Dubai as a winter tourist destination during the next season

Sheikh Saeed said that the initiatives recently launched by the authority are in the interest of promoting Dubai as a winter tourist destination during the next season, by providing a number of services and facilities for visiting foreign yachts, including tax exemption from value-added tax and exemption from customs duties, which currently amount to 5%, if the yachts are shipped to Dubai, in addition to allowing visiting foreign yachts to berth for a period of 6 months free of charge, and providing a short-term berthing service for all local and visiting boats and yachts within the territorial waters of the Emirate of Dubai.

Sheikh Saeed continued: “The Dubai Maritime City Authority has implemented a number of other initiatives, foremost of which is the system for self-examination of cruise means of up to 12 meters in length upon renewal of the license, in addition to assuming the authority for the process of developing current and future marina standards, and standardizing best management practices, in addition to to implement a classification system for marinas in Dubai in order to raise the level of its performance and its competitiveness.”

The Executive Director of the Authority referred to the “Your License in Minutes” initiative launched by the Authority, which allows marine companies to obtain all necessary permits as quickly as possible, relying on electronic transformation technology and automating the marine licensing service, which was positively reflected in reducing the rate of customer visits to the service center to obtain 100% of the marine craft licensing and driving licenses, noting that the procedures are facilitated and expedited through the process of smart linking to the digital identity card.

Sheikh Saeed said: “During the current year, the Dubai Maritime City Authority is working to remove barriers to boat ownership and simplify rules and regulations while maintaining high levels of operational safety and environmental protection, in addition to adhering to the integrated management system adopted by Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation. Its design is to regulate, monitor, secure, develop and support sustainable infrastructure planning and its developments, especially in the maritime and logistics sectors, which contributes to facilitating investment in the maritime sector and the proper implementation of international and local regulations in the Emirate of Dubai.
