Samurai Movie Park Detailed Overview
Traveling solo tends to brings you unexpected adventures, and my trip to Kyoto was no different. After getting lost on the public bus system, a local was kind enough to help me out of my mess and also throw in his recommendation for the Samurai Movie Park – something he said that not many tourists took the time to visit. So i changed my plans and went here, and has an awesome time poking around and learning about ancient Japanese culture!
Officially called the “Toei Kyoto Studio Park”, its located a short train ride away from the main city and similar to to a theme, park there are show times for special events, as well as shops and museums you can pop in to anytime throughout the day. Wander around and don’t miss the daily shows! – Watch a re-enactment of a Ninja TV-drama to learn how they filmed all the action sequences – Sit in a classroom with other visitors and geta lesson in the ways of the ancient Samurai – swords and all! – Watching an impromptu street performance from some of the park actors.

Samurai Movie Park Pro Tips
- Double check the opening times on the website, i got caught in off hours and had to wait a bit before getting let in
- 2-3 hours is plenty! Don't miss the Samurai class
- Go with some friends. I had a good time solo, but wished i had mates around to dress as Ninjas and wander around the park for the full experience
